World Cup (Q): Kangwa attributes Zambia defeat against Morocco to ‘small mistakes’

Zambia national team midfielder Kings Kangwa has blamed the team’s 2-0 defeat against Morocco in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying to “own small mistakes” as their dreams to qualify suffered a huge blow.

The victory enabled the Atlas Lions to continue with their 100% winning record in the group. Goals by Youssef En Nesyri and Hamza Igamane in both halves respectively were enough to officially end Zambia’s slim chances of making it to the playoffs of the qualifiers.

“We lost the game from our own small mistakes…we must be more responsible in such games…[the] positive side [is that] we have a very good team, let’s keep working hard, and the future ahead of us is definitely bright,” the Israel-based players wrote on his social media pages.

The defeat against a Morocco side, who have already qualified, left Zambia third in Group E with six points, at par with fourth–placed Niger, while second-placed Tanzania has 10 points.

Zambia will wind up the FIFA World Cup campaign next month against Niger and Tanzania.
