Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has voiced his confidence in the team’s ability to secure a vital victory against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Tuesday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein.
Nwabali, who plays for South Africa Premiership outfit Chippa United, made this claim in an interview with NFF TV.
The 27-year-old acknowledged the gravity of the match but insisted the team possesses the quality and determination to overcome their fierce rivals.
“I feel like we have a very strong squad to match any country. I know we respect South Africa and they are topping the group, but we are going to come out strong.”
Nwabali also added that the squad has what it takes to rise to the occasion although it won’t be an easy game.
“It’s going to be a tough game tomorrow. We are going to come out strong. Every game has its plan. When it comes to Nigeria, it’s different. Likewise other countries coming to play against Nigeria. I really feel we are going to win that game.”
Nigeria sit third in Group C, six points behind leaders South Africa, and need a win to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The short-stopper has been a consistent presence between the posts since his standout performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished runners-up.
