World Cup (Q): Tanzania promise to deliver strong display against Zambia

Tanzania national team head coach Hemed Suleiman has expressed strong confidence in his squad’s readiness ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Zambia at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar on Wednesday.

Taifa Stars will go into the game sitting second in Group E with 10 points, 11 fewer than leaders Morocco, who have already qualified for the global tournament, and four more than the Chipolopolo, who are lying fourth with six points.

Tanzania believes in our abilities, ready for battle

“As you can see, every player is fighting hard to earn a spot in the starting XI. The competition is fierce and that’s exactly what we need ahead of a game of this magnitude,” said Suleiman as quoted by Daily News.

“Everyone is healthy, fit and fully engaged. That gives us a great platform to build from,” he said. “We have a solid group and Inshallah, we’ll deliver a strong performance.”

He however, acknowledged the threat Zambia posed but remained confident in the resilience and quality within his squad. “We respect our opponents, but we believe in our abilities. We’re ready,” he explained.

The two sides will be aiming to keep their chances of finishing second and hope for one of the four second best placed finishers that will qualify to the play-offs.

Group winners across the nine streams automatically qualify to the FIFA World Cup while four second best placed teams proceed to the play-offs where the eventual winner will grab the tenth spot for CAF.
