World Cup Qualifying: Tunisia faces key absence ahead of Liberia clash on Wednesday

The Tunisian national team has made adjustments to its squad as they prepare for 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Tunisia will be without star midfielder Ellyes Skhiri, who sustained an injury while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt against Bochum in the German Bundesliga. Ferjani Sassi and English-based midfielder Hannibal Mejbri appear to be the most likely candidates to partner with Aïssa Laïdouni in the center of the midfield in Skhiri’s absence.

Additionally, Goalkeeper Noureddine Farhati, who plays for Tunisian club Union Sportive de Ben Guerdane, has been called up to replace the injured Abdelsalam Hallaoui who plays for another Tunisian side, Olympique Beja.

Hallaoui suffered a muscular injury during training with Tunisia national team but has traveled with the squad to Liberia.
