Nigerian international striker Joy Omewa has become a prime transfer target for multiple clubs in the English Women’s Super League (WSL) as the January transfer window approaches.
The 22-year-old forward, currently starring for Danish Elitedivisionen side Fortuna Hjørring, has reportedly drawn significant interest from three major English outfits: Aston Villa, Brighton, and West Ham United.
Omewa’s exceptional form throughout the 2025/26 season is the driving force behind this WSL interest. She has proven prolific in the Danish A-Liga, where she currently leads the scoring charts with a remarkable 13 goals netted in just 14 league appearances. Her scoring prowess extends to European competitions, where she has added a further eight goals to her tally.
According to football outlet Soccerdonna, the intense scrutiny from the trio of WSL clubs is set to culminate in a potential bidding war during the winter transfer window.
The forward’s club profile has risen internationally, following her recent debut for the Nigerian Senior Women’s National Team, the Super Falcons, in a fixture against the Benin Republic Amazons last month.
