The French coach, who succeeds Moroccan coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem, will have the mission of reviving the Casablanca club and bringing stability during a delicate period.

In its press release, WAC specifies that Carteron will lead the team in the next phase, with the ambition of returning to the top, both nationally and continentally.

An experienced coach in African football, Carteron boasts a solid track record. He won the CAF Champions League in 2015 with TP Mazembe, followed by the CAF Super Cup in 2016. Before his stint with Mazembe, he had his breakthrough in Africa with the Mali national team after guiding Les Aigles to a third place finish at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

He also distinguished himself with Raja Casablanca, winning the 2019 CAF Super Cup after a victory against Espérance de Tunis in Qatar. In Egypt, he led Zamalek to the league title in 2020, as well as the Egyptian Super Cup and the CAF Super Cup in the same year.

More recently, the French coach is coming off a mixed experience in Qatar with Umm Salal. During the current season, he managed 16 matches with a modest record of 4 wins, 1 draw and 10 losses, before leaving his post at the end of January 2026.
