Wydad Athletic Club announced in a joint statement with South African coach Rulani Mokwena the amicable termination of their contract, ending a short-term collaboration marked by a demanding and complex environment.

In its statement, the Casablanca club expressed its gratitude to Mokwena and his coaching staff for their total commitment and professionalism despite the many challenges encountered during the season. WAC praised the South African coach's loyalty and dedication, stating that his time there, although brief, left a lasting impression.
For his part, Rulani Mokwena thanked the club's president, Mr. Hicham Aït Menna, for his constant support, as well as all of Wydad's administrative and logistical structures, which, according to him, facilitated his daily work. He also sent a strong message to the fans, whom he described as exceptional, praising their unconditional support and passion.
In a statement included in the press release, Mokwena said: "As I bid farewell to Wydad, I leave with unforgettable memories of this great club that will forever remain in my heart. I wish Wydad and its supporters the best in their future achievements, both in Morocco and on the international stage."
Arriving in a context filled with high expectations, Mokwena's mission was to restore Wydad's competitive momentum on the national and continental stages. However, the season was marked by numerous turbulences, both sporting and institutional, making the task difficult for the coaching staff. Despite their efforts, the results did not always live up to their stated ambitions, leading both parties to opt for an amicable separation.
Wydad, now looking ahead to the rest of its season, is preparing to begin a new chapter in search of an adventure in the Club World Cup in the United States with Moroccan coach Mohammed Amine Benhachem at the helm.
