Thembinkosi Lorch, a top offensive asset

Another prestigious reinforcement for Wydad: Thembinkosi Lorch. The 31-year-old South African winger joins the Reds from Mamelodi Sundowns on a six-month loan with an option to buy.

A former key player at Orlando Pirates, Lorch joined Sundowns in January 2023 where he played 27 matches in all competitions, scoring 7 goals. However, this season he saw limited playing time (7 appearances) which pushed him to look for a new challenge.

This transfer also marks a notable reunion between Lorch and Wydad coach Rulani Mokwena, whom he has a long history with at Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

Tanzanian Suleiman Mwalimu officially joins Wydad

Wydad Athletic Club continues its transfer window with ambition. The Casablanca club has formalized the arrival of Tanzanian striker Suleiman Mwalimu from Ligi Kuu Bara side Singida Black Stars. The agreement, concluded between the two clubs, provides for a definitive transfer without financial details being revealed.

In its official press release, Singida Black Stars specified that the agreement includes a clause guaranteeing 10% for a future resale of Mwalimu if Wydad were to transfer him to another club.

The Tanzanian club also wanted to thank Fountain Gate FC, the player's training team, for its role in his development before wishing him every success in his new Moroccan adventure.

Wydad AC goes on the offensive for its continental ambitions

With these two international recruits, Wydad sends a strong message to its competitors. The arrival of Mwalimu brings new offensive depth, while Lorch, with his experience and versatility, could be a key piece in the title race. Wydad are currently 4th place in Morocco's top division Botola Pro on 33 points, 13 points behind leaders RS Berkane.

The Casablanca club, involved in the Botola Pro and the Coupe du Trône, is also targeting the Club World Cup scheduled for this summer in the USA, thus strengthening its squad to try to shine on both national and international stages.
