Yacine Brahimi kept his composure from the penalty spot on Thursday, providing a late match winner for Al Gharafa in their 3-2 Qatar Stars League victory at Al Rayyan.
With the match tied 2-2 shortly before second half stoppage time, a Video Assistant Referee review determined that a foul was committed by Al Rayyan in the penalty area and Al Gharafa turned to their star playmaker. Brahimi sent Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmoud Abunada the wrong way to give his club the victory and end a three-match winless streak.
Brahimi also assisted the opening goal of the match, providing precise service from a free kick to find Dame Traoré for a perfect header past Abunada.

The two teams went on to exchange goals with Roger Guedes equalizing in the 83rd minute for Al Rayyan with a penalty kick of his own before Brahimi’s winner in the first minute of stoppage time.
The result is welcome for Al Gharafa supporters, who watched their team lose in a humiliating 2-5 defeat to second tier side Muaither SC in the QSL Cup earlier this week. Brahimi, who was rested for the cup match, returned to make the difference for his team.
Gharafa move level with top QSL sides Al Shamal and Qatar SC on thirteen points at the top of the table with the result. Next up, Brahimi and his teammates will continue in the AFC Champions League Elite where they will host Iraqi champions Al Shorta after suffering a 3-4 defeat at Al Sharjah in their opening match from the league phase.
Brahimi has certainly done his part with an outstanding start to the 2025-26 campaign. He has 4 goals and 4 assists in 7 games across all competitions this season.
