Yan Diomande sets up two goals in RB Leipzig victory

Yan Diomande provided two assists on Saturday for RB Leipzig in a 3-0 Bundesliga victory at Heidenheim, marking the first goal contributions for the Ivorian winger since returning from 2025 Africa Cup of Nations duty.

The 19-year-old is in full flight for club and country and played an influential role as his club bounced back from a lopsided home defeat to league leaders Bayern Munich last week.

After a poor first half from the visitors, they came to life in the second half and opened the scoring in the 62nd minute. The Ivorian set up Ridle Baku to put the favorites ahead and six minutes later, Antonio Nusa doubled the advantage.

Diomande’s most impressive moment arrived two minutes later. Dancing past multiple defenders while cutting in from the right wing, he laid a pass across to David Raum and the left back, with plenty of space, smashed his shot past Heidenheim goalkeeper Diant Ramaj.

Three goals in the span of ten minutes was more than enough to secure victory for RB Leipzig, who move into 4th place with the result. They are fifteen points back of leaders Bayern but remain firmly in the hunt for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Diomande continues to enjoy a remarkable debut season in Germany’s top flight with 6 goals and 4 assists in 17 Bundesliga matches this season. He was among Ivory Coast’s standout players at the recently completed Africa Cup of Nations with a goal from five matches as the Elephants reached the quarterfinals.
