Yan Diomande continues impressive form in RB Leipzig victory

Ivorian teenager Yan Diomande continued his remarkable form for RB Leipzig on Saturday, playing a part in two goals during a 3-1 Bundesliga victory over Stuttgart.

Diomande’s cross set up a Stuttgart own goal shortly before halftime before the 18-year-old phenom doubled the hosts’ advantage early in the second half.

Receiving a pass from Christoph Baumgartner in the 53rd minute, the Ivorian international had time to evaluate his options on the right wing before cutting inside and striking a shot past Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.

Since scoring on his competitive debut for RB Leipzig in a DFB Pokal victory over Sandhausen, Diomande is showing that he is more than capable of thriving at the high level of Bundesliga football. He now has 3 goals and 3 assists from 10 matches in all competitions and has 2 goals and 3 assists in his last two Bundesliga matches.

The talented attacker is also beginning to play a role with the Ivory Coast senior national team. Diomande scored in both of Ivory Coast’s matches as they confirmed qualification for the 2026 World Cup in October, socring in a 7-0 thrashing of Seychelles before also scoring in a 3-0 victory against Kenya.

Signed from Spanish club Leganes ahead of the 2025-26 campaign after impressing with 2 goals and 1 assist in 10 LaLiga matches, Diomande is emerging as one of the most talented young players in world football. RB Leipzig are now in second place on the Bundesliga table, five points behind Bayern Munich, and will next be in action next Saturday away at Hoffenheim.
