After featuring as the Tunisia national team right back at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Yan Valery will look to boost his club career prospects after completing a loan transfer to Swiss Super League club BSC Young Boys on Monday.

The 26-year-old joins the club based in Bern for the remainder of the 2025-26 season without an option to purchase permanently. He arrives from EFL Championship side Sheffield Wednesday eager to impress and perhaps earn a permanent transfer to a top division European club side.
Valery’s contract with Wednesday runs until the end of next season. The English second tier club are certain to be relegated at the end of the current campaign after incurring substantial point penalties due to going into administration.
The French-born Tunisia international showed signs of his abilities with the Eagles of Carthage at the AFCON in Morocco. He started all four matches as Tunisia exited at the Round of 16 following a penalty shootout defeat to Mali.
His new club are focused on their Super League campaign after exiting the UEFA Europa League at the main stage. They currently sit in 6th place and will hope to remain in the top-6 to qualify for the the champonship group once the league splits in two for its final phase.
Valery began his senior career with Southampton, where he made 43 Premier League appearances. He then spent two seasons at French club Angers where he endured relegation from Ligue 1 in his first season before helping the club bounce back to the top flight the following campaign by finishing runner-up in Ligue 2.
He produced 3 goals and 5 assists in 63 appearances for Wednesday over a season-and-a-half before his latest move on Monday. The right back, also capable of playing in the center of defense, has made 20 appearances for Tunisia since debuting in 2022 after previously appearing for French youth national teams.
