A tactical battle ensued with few opportunities for either team, who were both content to not take unnecessary risks. The result suits Young Africans, who maintain an eight-point lead at the top of the table over Sunday’s opponents.
Yanga coach Pedro Gonçalves praised the strength of his team’s opponents and it appeared that maintaining tactical discipline was the emphasis from the Portuguese tactician. The two teams combined for only one shot on goal each throughout the ninety minutes.
In Sunday’s earlier match, Singida Black Stars ended a two-match losing streak by taking their frustration out on hosts Mbeya City with a 4-1 victory.

Vitalis Mayanga’s header put the hosts up inside fifteen minutes but it was all downhill from there for Mbeya City. Emmanuel Keyekeh responded to level the match by halftime with a penalty kick for Singida.
Another Ghanaian, Ibrahim Imoro, scored twice in the second half to give the visitors the victory and move themselves up to 6th place on the league table.
