Bounou reaches AFCON clean sheet milestone after latest shutout against Nigeria

Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou delivered another outstanding performance after keeping a clean sheet against Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 semi-final.

Bounou successfully protected his goal for 120 minutes against the Super Eagles, increasing his tally to five clean sheets in the current Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

This latest shutout raised Bounou’s total to 11 clean sheets in AFCON history, making him the second-most goalkeeper to achieve this feat in the tournament’s history, tied with former Ivory Coast international Boubacar Barry.

Only Egyptian legend Essam El-Hadary remains ahead of the Moroccan goalkeeper, having kept 14 clean sheets across his Africa Cup of Nations career.

The Al Hilal shot-stopper now has a golden chance to move into sole second place when Morocco face Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 final, with another clean sheet further cementing his legacy among Africa’s goalkeeping greats.
