The Marrakesh native joins from Portuguese Primeira Liga club Famalicão for a reported €10 million transfer fee after finishing as co-leading scorer at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, leading the charge as Morocco won the tournament.

Developed at the Mohammed VI Football Academy in Salé, Zabiri joins other graduates of the prestigious academy to move on to elite levels of European club football including Nayef Aguerd, Youssef En-Nesyri and Azzedine Ounahi.

His performances at the U-20 World Cup brought him unprecedented attention, especially after scoring both goals in Morocco’s 2-0 victory over Argentina in the final.

The Marrakesh native began his professional club career in the Moroccan top flight Botola Pro with Union Touarga. He scored 3 goals in 10 Botola Pro appearances before being snapped up by Famalicão for a transfer fee reported at €600,000.

After showing further signs of his potential in a handful of appearances during the 2024-25 season, his role increased during the ongoing 2025-26 campaign with 4 goals in 14 appearances between Primeira Liga and Taça de Portugal matches.

Zabiri joins a Rennes side that currently sit in 6th place on the Ligue 1 table and are in contention to qualify for UEFA competition next season. Rennes’ next match is on Tuesday when they travel to face Olympique Marseille in the Coupe de France Round of 16. Their next Ligue 1 match is on Saturday at Lens.
