Tanzania’s Yanga SC coach Pedro Goncalves has explained how he wants to make the most of Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar.
The Tanzania’s Mainland Premier League giants meet KVZ FC in the cup’s opener at Amaan Stadium on Sunday.
Ahead of the match, Gonsalves described meeting KVZ FC as a perfect opportunity to try new players.
“Tomorrow we officially start this tournament, and we have come to really fight. We are missing some of our key players but we still have a strong squad to compete properly,” the coach said.
“We will also use this tournament to give our new players a chance. We know they need to learn our philosophy. It is not an easy thing, it is something that requires you to grow step by step. Through this tournament I believe our new players will show us what they have.”
The tournament started on Friday when Mlandege FC beat Azam FC 2-0.
On Saturday, the games saw Simba facing Muembe Makumbi while URA took on Singida Black Stars.
On Monday, Azam FC Wil clash against URA FC while Fufuni SC welcomes Simba SC. Yanga SC return to action against TRA FC on Tuesday.
