Tanzania Premier League champions Young Africans goalkeeper Djigui Diarra has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for September.
According to the statement released by Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), JKT Tanzania coach Ahmad Ali was voted the Coach of the Month.
Diarra scooped the award after beating Anthony Tra Bi of Singida Black Stars and Mohamed Bakari of JKT Tanzania. He helped Young Africans to victories in two league matches played during the month by keeping clean sheets.
The first match for Yanga was against Pamba Jiji which they comfortably won 3-0 and their second fixture was against Mbeya City which they drew 0-0.
In a statement, TPLB said: “Diarra demonstrated consistency and played a key role in ensuring his team remained unbeaten without conceding a goal during September.”
Ahmad Ali won the coach’s award ahead of Romain Folz of Young Africans and Miguel Gamondi of Singida Black Stars. He managed to guide JKT to 1-1 away draw against Mashujaa at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma and won 2-1 against Coastal Union at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga.
