Young Africans head coach Pedro Goncalves has made it clear their Mainland Premier League fixture against Pamba Jiji FC will not be easy, stressing the defending champions must prepare very carefully to get positive results.
The Citizens are scheduled to take to the field on Wednesday, April 8, away from home to seek three vital points against Pamba Jiji FC in a Tanzania Mainland Premier League match to be played at the CCM Kirumba Stadium, in Mwanza.

Speaking ahead of the match, Goncalves said since they arrived in Mwanza, his team has continued with intense training as part of the final preparations before the important match.
“We expect a difficult game. The stadium will not allow for exciting football but that does not change our objectives. We have to be strong, focused and fight to get three points,” Goncalves told Pan-Africa Football.
“Pamba are a team that plays with strength, speed and with great enthusiasm from their home fans. They know how to use their environment well, which brings them great advantages. So, we have had to prepare ourselves psychologically and strategically to face that situation.”
He added: “It will not be an easy match. Pamba Jiji is a team that is ranked low, but we cannot underestimate them because they are a tough team with good players and a strong technical bench.”
Goncalves added despite the challenge of injuries for some players, the situation continues to improve and some of them are already fit and available for selection.
“I have great faith in my players. They have shown determination, commitment and a great ability to learn and improve every day. Tomorrow (Wednesday), we need to show a fighting spirit, competition, discipline and unity to achieve our goals,” added the former Angola coach.
“This is a very competitive season. Every team is fighting for their goals, so we have to continue to be focused, work hard and make sure we use every opportunity we get.
“It is true we are at the top of the league standings at the moment and that gives us morale and confidence. But every team wants to get there and the most important thing is to stay there until the end of the season.
“We still have a lot of games ahead of us so the journey is still long and very competitive but we are Young Africans and we believe in achieving our goals and nothing else.”
For Yanga, a victory in the game will be important not only for points, but also to boost the team’s morale towards the final stages of the season.
