The 18-year-old, a member of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad, will spend the remainder of the 2025 Norwegian season with Mjøndalen in a bid to secure more consistent first-team action and continue his development as he has only managed two substitute appearances for Lillestrøm since his arrival at the club.

Ariehi recently moved to Norway from Nigeria’s reputable Beyond Limits Academy. He signed a four-year professional contract with the Eliteserien club.

Lillestrøm’s Sporting Director Simon Mesfin stated that the decision to loan Ariehi was a strategic one for both clubs and for the player.

“We have decided that it is right to loan ‘KP’ to Mjøndalen. This is something we have considered for a while. The fact that it is happening now coincides with Mjøndalen having sold its best striker to the Eliteserien, and that we consider the need for more playing time in the OBOS league [Norwegian second division] to be important.”

Mesfin further stated loan benefits the young Nigerian striker career, emphasizing, that it will be important for him to secya spot in the upcoming U20 world cup.

“More playing time at the highest possible level is important for KP’s further development, while it is also important in view of the annual extension of his work permit. It is also worth noting that this is important for his potential participation in the U20 World Cup to be held in September/October this year.”

Ariehi was part of the Flying Eagles squad to the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. He scored one goal in six appearances for Nigeria at the competition.
