Zamalek secured a crucial 4-1 victory over Al Masry in their opening match of the Nile Egyptian League title-deciding phase, held at Borg El Arab Stadium on Sunday evening.
This fixture marked the beginning of the final stage of the competition, where seven teams compete in a mini-league format, each playing six matches to determine the league champion.
Al Masry made a bright start and took an early lead in the 13th minute through Moroccan forward Osama Zemraoui, who fired a low strike from the edge of the box after a pass from Salah Mohsen and a very good individual effort.
Zamalek responded well and found the equalizer in the 30th minute, as Palestinian striker Oday Dabbagh converted a precise cross from Brazilian winger Juan Bezerra.
Just before halftime, Nasser Mansi completed the turnaround for the White Knights, finishing clinically in the 44th minute after an assist by Ahmed Fatouh.
Mansi struck again in the 75th minute with a stunning long-range effort from a difficult spot, effectively sealing the win for Zamalek.
Defender Hossam Abdelmaguid added the fourth goal in the 86th minute, heading home from a corner delivered by veteran playmaker Abdallah El Said.
With this victory, the White Knights maintained their position at the top of the league standings, moving clear with 46 points, three ahead of Pyramids FC. Meanwhile, Al Masry remain in fifth place with 32 points.
