Zamalek SC have officially confirmed the signing of veteran goalkeeper Mahdy Soliman on a two-year deal, following his departure from Al Ittihad of Alexandria. The move comes as part of the club’s efforts to strengthen the squad during the current summer transfer window.
This signing marks Zamalek’s first official player acquisition of the summer, following the appointment of Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera as the team’s new manager.
Soliman, aged 38, brings with him a wealth of experience in Egyptian football, having spent over 15 years competing in the Egyptian Premier League. Throughout his career, he represented several clubs, most notably Pyramids FC, Al Ittihad, Smouha, and ENPPI.
Across 252 league appearances, Mahdy Soliman conceded 263 goals and managed to keep 92 clean sheets, underlining his consistency and reliability between the posts.
Despite being called up to the Egypt national team, Soliman has yet to feature in an official international match.
His arrival adds experience and depth to Zamalek’s goalkeeping department, as the club looks to rebuild and compete in the upcoming season under their new technical leadership.
