Egyptian club Zamalek SC has officially announced the appointment of Belgian manager Yannick Ferrera as the new head coach for the upcoming football season.
The 44-year-old tactician has signed a one-year contract with the White Knights, a deal finalized by the club’s sporting director John Edward.
Ferrera brings much experience from his managerial career across Europe and notably in the Arab region. His coaching journey began in his native Belgium, where he made a significant mark.
Yannick Ferrera’s most notable achievements include leading Standard Liège to victory in the Belgian Cup during the 2015-2016 season.
Prior to that, he masterminded the promotion of Sint-Truiden to the Belgian Pro League by winning the Belgian Second Division in the 2014-2015 season. His managerial career in Belgium also included spells with Charleroi, KV Mechelen, and Waasland-Beveren.
Ferrera is no stranger to football in the Middle East, having managed two clubs in the Saudi Pro League. He took the helm of Al-Fateh from October 2019 to January 2022. He later had a brief stint with Al-Riyadh in 2023.
He also had a coaching spell in Cyprus with Omonia.
Yannick Ferrera’s most recent stint was with Daring Brussels in the Belgian second division from March 2024 to April 2025.
