Zamalek held to another draw as struggles continue in Nile Egyptian League

Zamalek extended their winless run in the Nile Egyptian League after being held to a 1-1 draw by National Bank on Thursday evening.

The match took place at Cairo International Stadium as part of Matchday 12 of the 2025–26 league season.

National Bank were awarded a penalty in the 27th minute after Mohamed Ismail fouled Osama Faisal inside the box. Faisal stepped up and shot quickly and surprisingly to convert from the spot in the 30th minute, giving his side a 1-0 lead.

Zamalek responded quickly, equalizing just three minutes later. Following a series of stopped shots inside the National Bank area, Chico Banza pounced on the loose ball and fired a strike into the net to make it 1-1.

Despite efforts from both teams in the second half, neither side managed to find a winner, and the match ended in a share of the spoils.

The result means Zamalek have now failed to win in four consecutive league games — drawing three and losing once against Al Ahly. The Whites move to 19 points, sitting fourth in the table, level with Al Masry.

Meanwhile, National Bank sit ninth with 15 points after another solid performance against one of the league’s top sides.
