Zamalek end League Cup group stage with 2-0 win over Al Masry

Zamalek concluded their group-stage campaign in the Egyptian League Cup (Egypt Capital Cup) with a 2-0 victory over Al Masry, in the match played on Thursday evening at Borg El Arab Stadium.

The White Knights opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Brazilian forward Juan Bezerra, who converted a penalty kick that he won himself after a challenge with Karim Bambo inside the box.

Zamalek sealed the win in the dying seconds of the match. Nasser Mansi provided the assist, setting up Ahmed Sherif, who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Mahmoud Hamdy to score the second goal.

With this victory, Zamalek raised their tally to 7 points, finishing fifth in Group C, being eliminated from the competition.

Meanwhile, Al Masry’s points total remained at 11, having already secured qualification for the next round. However, they failed to clinch top spot in the group, which they currently lead by just one point over ZED FC, who still have one remaining match to play.
