Patson Daka breaks goals duck and leads Leicester City to a new victory
Zambia’s striker Patson Daka finally rediscovered his scoring touch, netting his first goal of the 2025-2026 Sky Bet Championship season during Leicester City’s 2-1 victory over Stoke City on Saturday.
Daka cushioned the Foxes’ lead with a 44th- minute finish after Stephy Mavididi’s earlier opener for Leicester.
Stroke reduced the deficit in the second half through Jun-hoe Bae.
The Foxes sit in 11th place, 13 points away from leaders Coventry while Stoke occupy third place.
Little wonder, the striker, who was so good he succeeded Erling Haaland at Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga years ago, was being subjected to social media abuse. The Zambian last scored in December 2024.
All along, the Chipolopolo forward was christened as the inevitable heir to Leicester City Jamie Vardy’s throne.
However, even with Vardy’s departure from Leicester, injuries and loss of form have seen Daka firing blanks.
