Zambian forward Joseph Sabobo Banda has left FC Zurich to sign a four-year deal with Israeli top-flight side Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

Speaking on putting pen to paper, Sabobo Banda said: “I’m very excited to sign for the club. I’m aware of the goals before us, and I’m determined to help my new friends achieve them.

“Very happy to have collaborated with my good friend from the Zambian national team, Kings Kangwa, who told me a lot about the club, the ambitions, the love, and the amazing crowd that surrounds him.”

Sabobo Banda grew up in Chaisa, Lusaka, and represented Atletico Lusaka in the Lusaka Provincial League, finishing as top scorer in 2021. These performances caught the eye of Zambia Super League team Red Arrows, who signed him on an 18-month loan deal in January 2022.

In February 2022, he went on trial with Spanish giants Barcelona, and January 14, 2024, Sabobo signed a contract with Zürich in Switzerland until 2028.

On the international scene, a prolific goal-scorer for the Zambian U-17 side, Sabobo Banda has been called up to the Zambia national football team on multiple occasions, the first call-up coming when he was 14 years old.

At Hapoel Be’er Sheva, he will link up with another Zambian Kings Kangwa.
