Zambia’s ZESCO United have appointed Honour Janza as technical director (TD) as part of a broader strategy ahead of participation in the 2025-2026 CAF Confederation Cup.
ZESCO Chief Executive Officer, Ponga Liwewe, confirmed the return of the former national team coach to the post he held with the FAZ/MTN Super League club from 2022 to 2023.
“We are delighted to welcome Honor Janza back to ZESCO United. His vast knowledge of the club and its dynamics was a key factor in our decision to reengage him. We are confident that his leadership will be instrumental in driving success for all our teams,” Liwewe told the club’s media.
The CEO added that Janza has signed a two-year contract with the Lusaka-based club and his mandate includes overseeing all teams under the ZESCO umbrella, including the senior men’s and women’s teams, as well as the youth structures.
“At ZESCO United, we are committed to developing young talent and nurturing the next generation of football stars. Janza’s expertise and experience will be crucial in helping us achieve this vision. We believe he will play a key role in identifying, developing, and integrating youth players into our senior teams, and we look forward to seeing the impact he will make in this area,” Liwewe explained.
He said the coming in of Janza would provide the much-needed guidance when ZESCO men’s team participates in the CAF Confederation Cup, with ZESCO Ndola Girls eyeing the COSAFA Women’s Championship.
The club is committed to achieving success in these competitions and is confident that Janza’s expertise will be pivotal in shaping the team’s strategy.
