Zambia's Mines United FC has wielded the axe on 10 players ahead of the new season.

The newly- promoted Super League team confirmed the release of Simabwachi Sakala, Jacob Sakala, Sam Mbewe, Billy Balanganayi, James Mwaba, Jairos Malipenga, William Phiri, Bakafwa Glorie, Emmanuel Silavwe and Banda Kondwani.

United have sent the players packing three days after hiring seasoned Christopher Tembo as their new head coach.

Tembo took over the mantle from Geoffrey Hamakwenda, who parted ways with the club.

The new coach brings with him a wealth of experience gained from coaching in Zambia and ESwatini.

His last job was in the kingdom nation where he steeered Malanti Chiefs from the second tier league to the Eswatini Premier Soccer League in the just-ended season.

Tembo precariously managed Manzini Sundowns in ESwatini.
