
Zesco United beat MTN Super League holders Red Arrows 1-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday afternoon, to remain two points clear at the summit.
Pasco Phiri scored in the 54th minute to brighten the Electricians’ chase for the championship and avenge a 2-0 loss they suffered to the holders in the first round. Arrows are now in fifth place, seven points behind the leaders.
Second-placed Kabwe Warriors needed Simon Tonga’s 83rd-minute strike to squeeze Zanaco FC further into the relegation zone. The striker Tonga has now scored in two consecutive games.
Elsewhere, 11th-ranked Mutundo Stars edged Indeni FC 2-1 to leave the latter stuck at the bottom of the table, 13 points behind the second-from-basement side, Zanaco.
Napsa Stars stunned record 13-time champions Mufulira Wanderers 1-0. Nkwazi FC and Nchanga Rangers shared the spoils following a goalless draw while Power Dynamos edged Athletico Lusaka 1-0.
MUZA and Green Buffaloes FC played out to a barren draw. In another game, Chris Mugalu’s goal handed Forest Rangers a 1-0 win over Lumwana Radiants.
