The Eswatini Football Association (EFA) has announced that it has parted ways with men’s national team coach Zdravko Logarusic. He posted three wins in fourteen games, comprising six defeats and five draws during his reign according to the Eswatini Observer.
The association confirmed the exit of the Croatian-born mentor for the team, that is also called Sihlangu SeMnikati, with months remaining on his contract.
“This decision comes with only two matches remaining in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifiers against Angola at home and Cape Verde away,” EFA’s statement reads.
“Despite having two months left in their agreement, both parties reached a mutual decision to end the coaching engagement. In a press statement, the EFA emphasized that the decision was made with respect to the head coaching position.”
The former Zimbabwe coach signed a two-year contract with EFA in 2024 and was mandated with earning Sihlangu qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations finals. He did not deliver on his mandate.
Therefore, assistant coach Sifiso Ntibane has been named as Eswatini’s interim coach. He will be in charge of the remaining academic World Cup qualifying matches scheduled for next month.
Ntibane will be assisted by Ernest Mavuso during this period. Eswatini are already out of the World Cup qualifying race after going six games without a win in Group D.
They anchor the table with two points after losing four games and drawing twice. The latest defeats were 0-3 to pool leaders Cameroon and 0-2 at the hands of second-placed Libya.
