ZED FC snatched a crucial 1-0 victory over Zamalek in their Egyptian League Cup (Egypt Capital Cup) clash, in a match played at Al Salam Stadium as part of the sixth and penultimate round of the group stage.
The encounter was decided by a moment of brilliance from Ahmed Khaled “Kabaka”, who scored a stunning effort in the 29th minute of the first half, giving ZED a lead that they managed to protect until the final whistle.
It is worth noting that this match marked the first game of interim head coach Moatamed Gamal in charge of Zamalek.
After this win, ZED raised their tally to 10 points, and sit second in Group C, while Zamalek’s points total remained stuck at 4, keeping them sixth in the standings.
Despite the setback, Zamalek’s qualification hopes are not completely over. The White Knights still have a chance to advance as one of the best third-placed teams, but their task is complicated. They must first defeat Al Masry in the final round and then wait for favorable results from other groups.
