Ethiopian Premier League side Sidama Coffee opted to part ways with head coach Zelalem Shiferaw citing poor performance in the current season. Shiferaw returned to the helm last season and were rewarded with a contract extension at the start of the season.
According to Soccer Ethiopia, Sidama Coffee board convened earlier today and assessed the performance of the club. The decision immediately was to sack their head coach. Following a respectable start of the season the club plunged into successive losses.
The South Ethiopian side is financed by coffee traders and it has actively recruited during the summer transfer window. They lost give games and drew ones as they sit 10th with 13 points, eight points shy of leaders Mechal.
Shiferaw is accredited for a very defensive style of football. His approach has been criticized by fans as the club only scored nine goals in their opening 10 games.
Sidama Coffee will play their week 12 games against Arbaminch Ketema under the guidance of assistant coach Adise Kasa. Kasa previously coached Hawassa Ketema and Wolkite Ketema.
