ZESCO United interim coach Emmanuel Siwale has rued his team’s impotence in front of goal after dropping points in a one-all draw with Atletico Lusaka on Wednesday.
In a post-match interview with ZESCO Media, Siwale said he lost count of the chances his players created without converting them during the home MTN Super League game.
He said: “We wanted three points but this is what we have gotten. We should have scored more than I don’t how many goals, but it is unfortunate we collected one point.”
The caretaker coach said he was nonetheless happy to have achieved his mission of a top-place finish in the first round. “This is just the first round but our target was to finish where we are—on top. The league has a long way to go. We have the second round to come and we have to work extra hard,” he added.
George scored for ZESCO in the 70th minute before 2024 COSAFA Under-17 Golden Boot Awardee Abel Nyirongo equalized to register his first goal in the professional ranks.
The powermen were dealt a blow during the game when goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata was red carded with Leonard Mulenga taking his place for the remainder of the game.
ZESCO are one point ahead of second-placed Kabwe Warriors who too were held on-all by Napsa Stars at home whereas Power Dynamos and Nchanga Rangers also drew 0-0 whereas holders Red Arrows beat Forest Rangers 1-0
ZESCO will now host NAPSA Stars on Sunday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
