Zimbabwe Castle PSL: Luphahla relieved as Simba Bhora reclaim top spot

Zimbabwe’s Simba Bhora’s coach Joel Luphahla has expressed his relief after beating Chicken Inn FC 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) match on Sunday to reclaim top spot.

He spoke about his relief after the victory at Wadzanai Stadium where Junior Makunine finished off from a rebound to send Bhora back to the summit of the Castle PSL log table.

Scottland FC had displaced the pacesetters after hammering FC Platinum 5-2 the previous day. But the holders’ victory restored the log table to its original order.

In a post-match interview, Luphahla said he was happy to get the maximum points, describing Chicken Inn as tricky customers.

“We are relieved and happy that we have come here and managed to get the three points, as we had played two games and we could not get anything,” he told the club’s media.

“We could have scored another goal or two. What I like is [this team’s] resilience even under pressure. They don’t wilt. Our fans were also behind the boys even when Chicken Inn were bombarding us. They didn’t stop supporting the boys.”

In other games played on Sunday, Ngezi Platinum held hosts Highlanders FC 1-1, Herentals FC beat Kwekwe United 3-1 while Bikita Minerals stunned Caps United 2-1.

The action on Saturday saw Yadah FC and Triangle United sharing the spoils at 0-0 while ZPC Kariba were stunned by a 1-0 loss to Greenfuel.
