Zimbabwe's senior national football team coach Michael Nees has swallowed his pride after recalling goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze in his list of players for upcoming friendlies against Burkina Faso (6 May) and Niger (10 May).

The German had earlier insisted that his faith was in Washington Arubi. The Marumo Gallants FC custodian helped the Warriors qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals and was also called in for the upcoming games.

However, Nees made a U-turn to announce Chipezeze's recall on Tuesday. The Magesi FC custodian is among star players in the 23-member squad comprising the likes of Khama Billiat, Tino Kadewere and defender Munashe Garananga.

However, Wolves midfielder Marshall Munetsi is conspicuously missing as well as other European-based names like Jordan Zemura, who recently returned from injury with club Udinese.

Zimbabwe will face Burkina Faso and Niger in next month's FIFA window for international games.
