Zimbabwe star forward Knowledge Musona says the Warriors need to snatch points from Benin and Nigeria to stay in contention for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Saudi Arabia-based forward spoke about the Warriors’ prospects in the qualifiers after joining camp on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 to end his self-imposed two-year exile.

The 34-year-old said he was impressed with the Warriors’ quality, going into the back-to-back FIFA World Cup qualifiers for Group C against Benin on March 20, 2025 then Nigeria five days later.

“In football everything is possible. It starts with this game that is coming [against Benin]. The most important thing is to try to collect points from this game and some points in Nigeria,” he said.

Musona hopes to add value and contribute to the development of the up-and-coming players.

“I am happy to be back. I look forward to the upcoming games. My first training was good. I have seen a lot of quality. I think the future is bright for the Warriors. I am looking forward to helping these youngsters and contributing to their development. I hope they can represent their nation at the highest level,” he said.

The former Kaizer Chiefs player stressed the importance of winning the two games and staying in contention for World Cup qualification.

“With the quality in this group, I think we can collect maximum points. It all depends on the work we put in training. I believe we have a team. I believe we will win these two games and stay in contention for the World Cup qualifiers,” he said.

Zimbabwe will host them at Moses Mabhida Stadium in South Africa due to a lack of certified international venues back home. Kick-off is 6pm Southern Africa time.

The Warriors sit at the bottom of the group with two points from four games, five points behind the third-ranked Benin who are at par on points with surprise leaders Rwanda and second-placed South Africa. Lesotho lie fourth with five points.
