Zimbabwe: FC Platinum axe six players

Zimbabwe’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) FC Platinum have started the off-season clearout.

The former champions have axed six players, including Malawian striker Vincent Nyangulu, formerly of Mighty Wanderers.

A statement from the club confirms the exits, weeks after the arrival of new coach Joel Luphahla who replaced Norman Mapeza.

The former Zimbabwe coach Mapeza is now in charge of the Castle Lager PSL champions Simba Bhora FC.

Which players have been shown the exit door?

FC Platinum’s statement reads: “As a club, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Wallace Magalane, Davison Marowa, Bothwell Nzori, Flex Moyo, Ronald Mate and Vincent Nyangulu for the commitment, professionalism and passion you displayed while representing the club.

“Each of you gave your best on and off the pitch, contributed meaningfully to our journey, and wore the badge with pride and dignity. Your dedication and sacrifices did not go unnoticed and your chapter in our story will always be remembered.

“As you move on to the next stage of your careers, we wish you continued success, good health and fulfillment in all your future endeavors. Wherever football takes you, know that you leave with our respect, gratitude, and best wishes.”

Platinum struggled in the just-ended season finishing in sixth place a distant 11 points behind champions Scotlland FC.
