A match from Zimbabwe's Premier Soccer League between Scottland FC and Chicken Inn was postponed due to violence on Friday.
Hell broke loose after Scottland, the newly promoted team, were awarded a penalty on the stroke of full time at Rufaro Stadium in Harare. Several media reports in Zimbabwe report that hell broke loose in the 90th minute when Scottland earned the penalty.
A Chicken Inn player was adjudged to have handled the ball at Rufaro Stadium in the capital city, Harare. Video evidence shows the player in question jumping and turning away before the goal-bound shot hit his elbow.
With the Castle Lager Premier League game goalless, Chicken Inn veteran coach Joey Antipas and most of his backroom staff walked off the pitch in protest. A few of his players remained on the pitch.
In reaction, Chicken Inn fans started pelting onto the pitch before armed police intervened to quell the situation.
Efforts to continue the match did not bear fruit after a 30-minute wait, leading to its postponement. The league's governing body in Zimbabwe mentioned the incident in a statement and will await reports from the match official and match commissioner before making a decision.
