Musona brothers Knowledge and Walter combined to send big-spending Scottland FC closer to the Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) title on Saturday.
Walter provided the assist for the former Kaizer Chiefs hero Knowledge to score when the newcomers edged MWOS FC FC 1-0 at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.
The Zimbabwe PSL rookies marked their promotion from the second tier league with big spending. They brought on board star players such as the Musona brothers Knowledge and Walter, Khama Billiat, Lynoth Chikuhwa, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Tymon Machope, Kingsley Mureremba, Peter Muduhwa, Vasilli Kawe, Namibian Moses Shidolo and Malawian Khuda Muyaba.
Such a big spending seemed to have worked as Scottland have put one foot into the promised land. They boast a six-point cushion going into the last stretch to the finish line.
The cause for Tonderai Ndiraya’s side was further helped by the 2-1 loss of second-placed holders Simba Bhora to Ngezi Platinum Stars on the same Saturday.
Scottland have peaked just at the right stage of the PSL season, winning three games, drawing and losing once in the last five consecutive league matches. Kwekwe United anchor the table with 10 points collected from 31 matches in the 18-member league.
