Coach Ian Bakala suffered his first defeat in charge of Caps United, going down 3-1 to Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier League champions Simba Bhora at Rufaro Stadium in Harare on Sunday.

The Zambian tactician, who replaced Lloyd Chitembwe weeks ago, had said he was expecting a tough encounter. He was dead right as Makepekepe could not match the holders who led 2-0 at the break, thanks to Barnabus Mtuche and Donald Mudadi’s 38th and 41st minute goals.

In the second half, Emmanuel Ziotcha put the game beyond the reach of Caps with a third goal for Simba in the 51st minute.

Alois Bunjira Junior scored a consolation goal for the Men in Green in the 85th minute, but it was too little too late.

The seventh loss of the season leaves Caps fourth from the bottom of the standings. Simba are now within two points of leaders MWOS after 13 games played for each team on the 18-member log table. The leaders drew 1-1 with Green Fuel on Saturday. On the same day, there was also another draw between Bikita Minerals and Kariba.

Kwekwe United FC anchor the standings after losing 1-0 to TelOne on Saturday. In other games played on Saturday, Herentals FC beat Highlanders 1-0 while Yadah FC and FC Platinum shared the spoils at 0-0.
