After a thrilling Castle Challenge Cup kicked off the 2025 domestic football season in Zimbabwe, the nation's Premier Soccer League commenced on Friday with Scottland FC defeating Triangle FC.

After creating most of the opportunities in the match, it appeared that debutants Scottland would have to accept only a point as full time approached with the teams scoreless. However, an unfortunate own goal from Triangle's Blessing Chiota deep into second half stoppage time saw Scottland emerge with three points for a victorious top flight debut.

An ambitious club based in the Harare suburb of Mabvuku and backed by businessman and politician Scott Sakupwanya, Scottland announced their intentions to be taken seriously in Zimbabwean football with notable signings including Zimbabwe national team legend Khama Billiat. The club earned promotion for their maiden campaign in the Premier Soccer League after winning the Northern zone of Zimbabwe's second tier Division One.

The PSL continues on with its first round of matches over the weekend with six duels on Saturday. Defending champions Simba Bhora will host FC Platinum on Saturday and Castle Challenge Cup winners Dynamos FC will begin their season on Sunday along with long time rivals Highlanders.
