The unpredictable Angolan speedster made plenty of appearances during his time at Cagliari after joining in September 2020. Despite some moments of brilliance, however, he could never quite establish himself as as a reliable option after helping the club earn promotion to Serie A from the second tier Serie B following the 2022-23 campaign.

A new environment may provide the impetus for the 23-year-old to thrive. Reports indicate that there is an option for Mallorca to purchase Zito permanently. With his excellent pace and tricky dribbling ability, there is plenty of potential that can be unlocked after he produced 11 goals and 14 assists in 117 appearances over three-and-a-half seasons following his graduation from Cagliari’s U-19 team.

The Luanda native began his career with prominent Angolan club Primeiro de Agosto, making his debut at the age of 17 at the end of the 2018-19 season. He made his breakthrough the following season with 5 goals and 1 assist in 26 matches for the club sponsored by the Angolan Armed Forces, also representing Os Militares in the CAF Champions League.

That season, he came to the attention of Cagliari after helping Angola qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup. He was a key player as Angola reached the Round of 16, playing every minute at the tournament hosted in Brazil.

Prior to that edition of the U-17 World Cup, Zito had already made his debut with the Angola senior national team with two substitute appearances in a home-and-away duel against The Gambia in 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying. He has 31 appearances for the Palancas Negras and featured in all three of their matches as they exited at the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Mallorca just climbed out of the relegation zone in LaLiga following Monday evening’s 4-1 home victory over Sevilla. Zito should be available for selection on Saturday when the club based in the Balearic Islands travel to the Camp Nou to face LaLiga reigning champions and current leaders FC Barcelona.
