Étoile du Sahel stand with Ben Amor after violent assault in Sousse

Tunisian side Étoile Sportive du Sahel has expressed full support for Mohamed Amine Ben Amor after the midfielder suffered a broken nose in an attack by unknown assailants in the city of Sousse.


Étoile du Sahel conveyed their solidarity with the 33-year-old during this difficult time. "All support and solidarity to our son Mohamed Amine Ben Omar following a disgraceful physical assault. We wish him a speedy recovery and quick return to the field after undergoing a successful nasal surgery," the club said in a statement.


The assault has sparked outrage among Tunisian football fans. According to the state-owned newspaper La Presse, law enforcement in Sousse has arrested the main suspects who are currently in police custody pending the outcome of the investigation.


Ben Amor is expected to return to action following successful nose surgery. The former Tunisian international is reportedly recovering well.
