Barker demands Simba SC consistency ahead of Fountain Gate test

Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has challenged his players to keep consistency as they face off with Fountain Gate in a Mainland Premier League fixture at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha on Wednesday.

After their 2-0 win against Coastal Union on April 2, Simba have gone ahead to drop points from two straight draws. Simba are winless in two matches following a 0-0 draw against Azam FC and a 0-0 draw against TRA United.

The South African coach has urged his players to keep consistency following their 3-1 win against Dodoma Jiji in the CRDB Federation Cup Round of 16 fixture.

Barker wants results in consistent basis

“Obviously we are playing our third match in a week in Arusha, so, we have done a lot of recovering in preparations for an important match, so, we have prepared the players to make sure they are physically ready,” Barker told Pan-Africa Football.

“We have also prepared them to be tactically ready, we have a certain way we want to play, and we have laid a good foundation, so, it is just continuing to do that, and make sure that the way we play we just do it well.”

Barker added: “I think the last match we showed what we are capable of doing in terms of especially our attacking intent, and the important part now is just being consistent, and making sure we have those performances on a really consistent basis.”

‘Fountain Gate can upset Simba SC’

Fountain Gate FC assistant coach Abobakar Ally said they have spoken to their players and prepared them psychologically to face Simba.

“We only played April 12, and now we face Simba. We know it will be a difficult task, but as Fountain Gate we know what we have planned to do against one of the best teams in Tanzania,” said Ally.

“Our tactics will be very different from the domestic Cup game. We know this is a league game where you fight for points, very different from a Cup game where you lose and go home. So, we have prepared well, and we know we have what it takes to beat Simba.

“We had enough time to talk of the game; we have prepared our players psychologically to be ready for the game.”

So far, Simba are sitting second in the league table with 26 points from 16 matches while Fountain Gate are placed 14th with 16 points from 17 outings.
