Moses Shumah rules out Power Dynamos exit

Kenya national team striker Moses Shumah has committed his future to Power Dynamos despite several clubs targeting his services following a superb campaign with the Zambian Premier League champions.

Despite being ignored when it comes to Kenya national team selection, Shumah has continued to break new ground in the Zambian Premier League.

ZPL confirmed on Friday the free-scoring Dynamos forward shuttered the MTN Super League’s seven-year record.

‘I am committed to my team’

The former Kakamega Homeboyz striker took his tally in the MTN Super League to 20 goals after scoring a double to help Dynamos secure a commanding 3-0 victory over Kabwe Warriors FC at Railway Stadium on Wednesday.

“For now, I am a Power Dynamos player, and I am committed to my team,” said Shumah as quoted by Bola News.

“I won’t say anything about the interest or say anyone has approached me but now I am just focusing on getting the team back to the Champions League.”

Shumah added: “I cannot say the Zambian league is easy. The intensity is too high compared to the Kenyan league. Playing in the Kenyan league in the last three seasons has sharpened me to be where I am today.

“So, I will say the Kenyan league has helped me play in the Zambian league, but the Zambian league is better than the Kenyan league.”

Shumah matched Idris Mbombo record

On whether he knows why he doesn’t make Kenya squad, Shumah responded: “I won’t say I know the reason why they don’t call me, because I think that’s for the officials and the coach.

“My part is just to push and score goals, that’s all. I don’t know the other side.”

In adding two goals to his tally, Shumah matched the record Congolese striker Idris Mbombo set when he scored 20 goals in the 2017-2018 campaign.

The victory registered on Wednesday moved Osward Mutapa’s outfit seven points clear at the top of the table, with 61 points from 27 matches. The striker signed a three-year deal with Dynamos at the start of the 2026 MTN Super League campaign.
