Fulham star Iwobi suffers injury in London derby draw

Fulham FC midfielder Alex Iwobi suffered an injury during their London derby draw against Brentford on Saturday.

Iwobi was seen limping off while clutching his hamstring shortly before half-time. The Nigerian international was subsequently replaced by his compatriot, Samuel Chukwueze during the half-time.

However, Fulham manager Marco Silva says the injury does not appear to be serious, as they will examine the 29-year-old in the next few days.

β€œThe first reaction that I got from him is that it is not so bad. In the next 24 hours, 48 hours, the exams will give us a clear picture, and we can be more clear about the availability until the end of the season.”

Fulham eyes European ticket

As the Cottagers continue their push for a place in European competition, a win would have taken them level on points with their west London rivals in the battle for a European place. But they struggled to create clear-cut chances and relied on keeper Bernd Leno, who produced a number of saves.

Iwobi made his 255th Premier League start in the keenly contested encounter. He has been a key figure for the side this season, tallying four goals and three assists in 27 league appearances.
