Bundesliga: Jackson sparks Bayern’s stunning 4–3 comeback over Mainz

Senegal international Nicolas Jackson scored in the Bundesliga on Saturday as Bayern Munich staged a dramatic 4–3 comeback win over FC Mainz. The Bavarian side were crowned champions of the 2025/26 Bundesliga last week, but they are still winning games in the top flight.

Jackson started the tie ahead of England striker Harry Kane after Bayern Munich’s midweek DFB-Pokal semi-final victory over Bayer Leverkusen. Mainz were 3–0 up in the first half following goals from Dominik Kohr, Paul Nebel, and Sheraldo Becker.

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany introduced Kane and Michael Olise at the beginning of the second half, and the changes were crucial as the champions staged a comeback. Jackson scored with a volley after a cross from Konrad Laimer in the 53rd minute. Goals followed after Jackson’s first goal, as Olise, Jamal Musiala, and Kane struck to turn the result around.

Jackson, who happens to be on loan from Chelsea, has bagged seven Bundesliga goals this season. It is not expected that he will stay beyond the current season in Germany, with Italian clubs showing interest in acquiring his services.

Jackson and Bayern Munich are on the hunt for a treble, with the Bundesliga already secured. The German giants are still in the UEFA Champions League and have reached the final of the DFB-Pokal.
