Ethiopian Cup: Sidama Coffee and Ethiopian Insurance reach semifinals

Sidama Coffee and Ethiopian Insurance confirmed their places in the semi final of the 2025/26 Ethiopian Cup. CBE Ethiopian Premier League leaders Sidama Coffee are on hunt for a double as reigning Ethiopian champions Ethiopian Insurance got a moral boosting win over Bench Maji Coffee.

Insurance comfortably beat second division side Bench Maji Coffee 2-0 in Addis Ababa Stadium to cruise to semi-final final of the Ethiopian Cup.

Samuel Saliso gave Insurnace the lead through a fine strike after a well worked cross from Ramadan Youssef. Man of the match winner Benajmin Cote headed home the second goal before the interval ended but the two goals were enough for Gebremedhin Haile’s charges to go through to the last four.

The final quarter final tie saw Sidama Coffee sweeping Negelle Arsi aside 2-1.

Yoseph Yohannes fires Insurance through to Ethiopian Cup semis

On fire striker Abel Yalew opened the scoring following a defensive disorganization of Negelle Arsi in the first half. Ethiopian international Kitika Jema leveled matters in a very surprising way after a blunder from Sidama goalie Alazar Marne.

Sidama Coffee retook the lead in the 76th minute through a brilliant long range strike from Yoseph Yohannes.

The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) confirmed the semifinal pairing draw will be conducted in the coming days with Mekele 70 Enderta, Wolwalo Adigrat University, Sidama Coffee and Insurance being in the mix. Insurance are the only side from the four clubs that has previously won the cup.
