Former Morocco youth international Bilal Nadir is preparing to leave French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille on a permanent basis.
The young Moroccan midfielder is attracting interest from several French and Spanish clubs, many of whom have been captivated by his technical ability. With his contract expiring next June, Nadir is expected to leave OM on a free transfer this summer.
Nadir’s current situation has piqued the interest of La Liga outfit Girona FC, who are actively searching for a potential successor to Azzedine Ounahi.
Having shone this season in Spain with five goals and three assists in 19 matches, Ounahi has seen his stock rise significantly in the European market. His performances have reportedly caught the eye of Atlético Madrid, who are closely monitoring his progress ahead of the next transfer window.
Aware that the Atlas Lion’s departure is becoming increasingly likely, Girona have already explored several options, including Nadir. The Marseille player’s profile greatly appeals to the Catalan club, who appreciate his technical quality, creativity, and ability to inject dynamism between the lines.
The major advantage of the deal is his status as a free agent—a detail that could accelerate discussions in the coming weeks. However, Girona will have to contend with competition from Villarreal CF, who are also interested in the young Moroccan.
Having seen limited playing time at Marseille despite his obvious potential, Nadir could revive his career in La Liga, a league renowned for its suitability for creative and technically gifted players.
The 22-year-old has made 20 Ligue 1 appearances with four assists to his credit this season. Across all competitions, including the Coupe de France and UEFA Champions League, he has a combined 28 appearances, one goal, and five assists.
Bilal Nadir, who previously represented France at Under-16 and U-19 levels, has since switched allegiances to represent Morocco at U-23 level.
