In a spectacular Cairo Derby performance, Al Ahly delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over fierce rivals Zamalek in the historic 132nd meeting between the two sides, reigniting their Nile Egyptian League title hopes in emphatic fashion.

Played at Cairo International Stadium as part of the fifth round of the championship phase, the match belonged to Moroccan star Achraf Bencharki, who produced a sensational display with two goals and one assist.

Bencharki opened the scoring in the 18th minute, rising brilliantly to head home a precise cross from Taher Mohamed Taher and give Al Ahly an early advantage. The Red Devils doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Bencharki provided a superb assist for Hussein El Shahat, who delicately chipped goalkeeper Mahdi Soliman.

Zamalek were handed a golden opportunity to return to the contest in the second half after winning a penalty, but defender Hossam Abdelmaguid saw his effort brilliantly saved by Mostafa Shobeir in the 55th minute.

Al Ahly were later awarded a penalty of their own in the 65th minute, but Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet struck the post, denying the away side a third goal.

However, Bencharki completed his unforgettable night in the 74th minute, finishing brilliantly after an excellent pass from Emam Ashour to seal a 3-0 triumph.

The victory represents a major resurgence for Al Ahly after a disappointing run of form, restoring confidence and significantly intensifying the title race.
